Hot Spots of Inorganic Nitrogen Availability in an Alpine-Subalpine Ecosystem, Colorado Front Range
July 6, 2011 – 10:27 amI was excited that one of the main papers from my dissertation came out recently. This paper went through a crazy number of iterations in which it was one giant paper in my dissertation (one part field data, one part mathematical definition of hot spots), then was split into two papers for submission to journals, then recombined into one paper at the request of the reviewers. I’m happy with how it came out though.

Anthony, I’ve just rediscovered your site! Kudos on the Ecosystems manuscript. Your story sounds surprisingly like what happened to me. We were going to try to do 2 publications, but after one was shot down pretty hard we just decided to combine them and Ecosystems accepted it right around the same time that they accepted yours. It looks like we might be in the same issue when it is finally in print!
Will you be at ESA this year? It’d be fun to see you if you’ll be around. I’m giving a talk about N2O emissions from agricultural ecosystems.

Hey Aaron, thanks for dropping by! Great to hear from you. I unfortunately won’t be at ESA this year due to the field schedule in AK, but I look forward to making it to ESA again perhaps next year. I’ll look for your article in Ecosystems and that sounds awesome about your N2O work! Have fun.
