ON MY LAST DAY OF YOUTH IN SCIENCE CAMP, ONE OF my kids said to me, "July 20th. The zombie wars are over. We're going home." Remarkably true at the time... (He has played a little much of the video game "Resident Evil.") It's been almost a month since the zombie wars ended, so it's about time I post some of my photographs from camp.

This summer has been all I hoped for. I've spent about three and a half weeks in the backcountry collecting my third and final field season of data on sagebrush invasions. I presented my research results at the Ecological Society of America meeting in Savannah, Georgia, and at the Beckman Scholars Research Symposium in Irvine, California. Between travels, I've split time among Berkeley, Half Moon Bay, and the White Mountain Research Station in Bishop. Next I visit relatives in Ohio. My summer capstone will be a trip with my Dad and brother to the Boundary Waters Canoe Area Wilderness in Minnesota and Canada.
