Nearly 4,000 ecologists attended the meeting. Some came to give talks on their research, some presented posters, like me, and some came just to watch and learn. I presented soil moisture data from my sagebrush research project that suggested that young sagebrush shrubs were not drying out meadow soils through transpiration, as we had hypothesized they might.
